Switch from ChatGPT to Gemini

Gemini is tempting if you live in Google apps. But the knowledge about your work that you built in ChatGPT does not move by itself.

Export your ChatGPT data first. Then move what matters into Gemini: your preferences into "Saved info", and your work files into Drive or a custom Gem. Direct import options differ by country and account type, so check Gemini's help page.

Steps to move

    Export from ChatGPT

    Download a full copy of your chats. Steps are in the export guide.

    Pull out what it knows

    Ask ChatGPT: "List everything you remember about me and my work." Copy the list.

    Save it in Gemini

    Open Gemini settings and add the important items to Saved info.

    Move your files

    Upload work files to Drive, or create a custom Gem with its instructions and files.

If you will use both tools

Most people who try Gemini do not leave ChatGPT entirely. They use one for some tasks and the other for the rest. A one-off transfer is then not enough, because each tool builds its memory apart from the other.
