Export ChatGPT conversations
How to export all your ChatGPT conversations in one file, what the file contains, and how to use it in another tool or keep it as a backup.
Guide
In Claude on the web or the desktop app, open Settings, then Privacy, and select Export data. A download link arrives by email and works for 24 hours.
You cannot export from the iOS or Android app. On Team and Enterprise plans, only the organisation's Primary Owner can export data.

Checked in October 2026 against the official help pages: Export your Claude data, Import and export your memory from Claude and Import from other AI platforms to Gemini Apps. Menu names change, so check there if an option is not where we say.
If the link expires, request a new export the same way.
Anthropic says the export includes your conversation data and your account's user data. Claude's help pages do not describe exporting a single chat as PDF or Markdown.
You cannot import the file into another personal Claude account; Anthropic does not move data between personal accounts.
Claude's help covers one export of all your data. For a single chat, copy its text into a document and save it in the format you want, or ask Claude at the end of the chat to write up a summary in Markdown.
To Gemini: upload the export under Settings & help, Import memory to Gemini, then Add under Import chats. It takes up to five ZIP files a day, each up to 5 GB, and processing can take up to a day.
To ChatGPT: we found no import tool for Claude chats on OpenAI's help pages. To carry over what Claude remembers, ask it to write out its memories of you verbatim, then ask ChatGPT to remember them. Every direction is in the guide to moving memory between AI tools.
Upload the export to Memory Bridge and choose the conversations you want before anything is saved. What they hold becomes part of your memory, which you can read and edit and every connected tool reads, ChatGPT included.
You no longer need to move chats from tool to tool whenever you change your mind.
No. Export works only in Claude on the web or the desktop app.
Ask it: "Write out your memories of me verbatim, exactly as they appear in your memory," and save the reply. You can also view it under Settings, Memory.
No. Exporting copies your data and leaves it in your account. To delete a chat, open its menu in the sidebar and choose Delete.
Exporting changes nothing in Claude's memory. What it remembers and how to control it is in Does Claude remember across chats?
