The notice means saved memories have reached their limit. Your chats are fine, but ChatGPT will not save anything new until you free space.

Open Settings, then Personalization, then Memory, then "Manage". Delete old or duplicate memories and keep what matters. Copy anything you want to keep first, because deletion is permanent.

Why does it fill up?
Saved memories have an upper limit. ChatGPT adds to them from your chats, so small details pile up until the limit is reached.
On paid plans ChatGPT manages memory automatically, keeping the most relevant items in front, so the notice appears less often.
How to stop it happening again
- Review memory once a month and delete what is finished.
- Put fixed preferences in custom instructions, not in memory.
- Keep each piece of work's files in its own project.
- Use temporary chat for passing questions.
The lasting fix
ChatGPT memory was designed to know who you are, not to carry the whole detail of your work. If it keeps filling up, your work is bigger than it is.
