Memory Bridge vs ChatGPT memory

ChatGPT has a good memory, and for many people it is enough. This comparison shows when it is, and when you want a memory that reaches past one tool.

The short answer

ChatGPT memory tells ChatGPT about you: your preferences and what recurs in your chats. It works inside ChatGPT only. Memory Bridge keeps knowledge about your work as notes you can read and edit, and every tool you connect reads them. They work together; neither replaces the other.

ChatGPT memory is enough if

  • You use ChatGPT alone and do not plan to try anything else.
  • All you want is for it to know your name, style and general preferences.
  • You do not need to review what is saved about you line by line.

Add Memory Bridge if

  • You work in more than one tool, or switch between them.
  • Your work has details where a mistake is costly: prices, contracts, decisions.
  • You want to read what the tool relies on and correct it yourself.
  • You want knowledge about your work to stay yours if you ever change tools.

They work together

There is no need to turn ChatGPT memory off. Let it know your general preferences, and keep what belongs to your work and projects in Memory Bridge.

Common questions

Does ChatGPT memory fill up?

Saved memories have an upper limit. What to do when you reach it is in our guide to ChatGPT memory full.

Can I edit what ChatGPT saved about me?

You can view saved memories in settings and delete what you do not want. To correct one, ask ChatGPT to save the right information.

Does ChatGPT move its memory to Claude?

Not by itself. Claude offers a way to import a summary of it, which carries a one-off snapshot, not a living memory.
