Is Gemini memory enough?
Gemini memory works inside a personal Google account. Memory Bridge keeps knowledge about your work as notes every tool reads. Compared point by point.
Guide
Yes, once you turn on Memory. Gemini then draws on your past chats to personalise its answers, as long as you use a personal Google account with Keep Activity on.
Memory is not available on work, school or supervised accounts, and it does not work inside Gems or Live chats. On the web you will find it under Settings & help, Personal Intelligence.

Go to gemini.google.com and sign in with a personal Google account.
Select Settings & help, then Personal Intelligence.
Switch Memory on. If the option is missing, check that Keep Activity is on and that you are 18 or over.
Checked in October 2026 against the official help pages: Memory of your past Gemini chats, Manage what Gemini remembers about you, Gemini Apps Privacy Hub and Manage and delete your activity in Gemini Apps. Menu names change, so check there if an option is not where we say.
Ask it: "Did you use any info from past chats?" When it drew on them, previous chats are listed among the sources under the answer, though Google notes the label can occasionally be wrong.
You can also ask about an old discussion by topic or time: "Summarize what we discussed about the marketing plan last month."
Yes. Say "Remember that I am vegetarian" or "Keep track of this: my annual review is on March 15th", and correct it in the chat if it gets something wrong.
Google says this needs a Google AI plan and is currently available in the US only. Instructions on how Gemini should respond, such as "Start every answer with a short summary", are open to all users.
Delete the chats that contain it from Gemini Apps Activity. There can be a short delay before Gemini stops using them.
If the information came from a connected app such as Gmail, delete the chats and disconnect the app. Disconnecting alone leaves it in past chats, and deleting chats alone leaves it in the app.
For anything you do not want remembered, use a temporary chat.
Memory of past chats stops, since it depends on that setting. New chats stay out of your activity and are not used to train models unless you send Google feedback, and Google keeps them with your account for 72 hours to run the service and protect its users.
With Keep Activity on, Google auto-deletes your activity after 18 months; you can change that to 3 or 36 months, or turn auto-delete off.
Gemini's memory is tied to your Google account and to Keep Activity, and it works inside Gemini. What you explain there never reaches ChatGPT or Claude.
Memory Bridge keeps notes about your work in one place that the tools you connect all read; they are listed on the supported tools page. See the comparison with Gemini memory, or how it stacks up in which AI remembers your work best.
Yes, broadly. Both draw on past chats and save what you ask them to. Gemini relies on Keep Activity in your Google account, and you remove what it knows by deleting the chats themselves. The full comparison is in ChatGPT vs Gemini.
Yes. Under Settings & help, choose Import memory to Gemini, paste the prompt it gives you into ChatGPT, then paste ChatGPT's reply back. It can also import a full chat export. More in the guide to moving memory between AI tools.
