First-hand test

We tested one memory across ChatGPT and Claude: what we saw

In our test on 23 October 2026, ChatGPT saved a fact to Memory Bridge, and minutes later Claude used it on its own while writing a report, without being asked.

In October 2026 we recorded two free Arabic courses, one on Claude and one on ChatGPT, with both tools connected to a demo Memory Bridge account. These are our notes as we wrote them on the day.

What we tested

We connected ChatGPT and Claude to the same demo Memory Bridge account and worked as any subscriber would: agree something with one tool, ask it to save it, then move to the other tool and carry on.

The demo account holds no client data; everything on screen was an example we made for the course.

What worked

  • ChatGPT saved a fact, and minutes later Claude used it on its own while writing the report, without a reminder.
  • When we asked to save something already saved, it was not duplicated: it stayed in memory once.

What we noticed, and how to handle it

Say "Memory Bridge" when you ask to save

If you only say "save this to my memory", ChatGPT and Claude save it to their built-in memory. Say "save this to Memory Bridge" so it reaches all your tools.

ChatGPT asks permission even to read

ChatGPT asked "allow once" even to list projects. That is its own setting: in Memory Bridge's settings inside ChatGPT, allow low-risk tools, and reads go through without a prompt while saving still asks.

When a skill exists in the tool and in Memory Bridge

The tool uses its own copy unless you say "use the skill from Memory Bridge".

When the tool says something is already saved

Ask it to show you the note itself, so you see what was saved and where.

Watch it yourself

Connecting and memory are in part two of each course (both in Arabic): Claude Cowork course, part 2 and ChatGPT Work course, part 2, on our YouTube channel @memorybridgeai.

The limits of this test

This is our own use of a demo account on one day, not a customer story or a large measurement. A model can still get things wrong with the fact in front of it, so check the answers that matter.

To try the same thing, follow your first 10 minutes, then save a fact in one tool and ask about it in the other.

Common questions

Does Claude know what ChatGPT saved?

Yes, when both connect to the same Memory Bridge. In our test, Claude used a fact ChatGPT had saved minutes earlier.

Why did the tool save to its own memory instead of Memory Bridge?

Because "my memory" can mean its built-in memory. Say "save this to Memory Bridge".
